A resume is one of the most important documents that everyone will need to write at some point or another. As the end of the school year approaches, many new college graduates will be looking for their first real job. It always surprised me how little time was spent covering job hunting skills in college. I remember spending about 15 minutes in my Human Resources class that touched on resume writing and interviewing. That is mind blowing considering that the whole point of going to college is to land the job of your dreams.
A resume is basically a history of your education, skills, and job experience. It must be accompanied by a cover letter in which you summarize your resume and humbly ask for an interview. They both must be flawless! There are a few different styles of resumes; the two that I like the most are linked below. Remember, a resume should not be more than one page.
If you’re applying for a job in Germany it is important that you attach a business photo at the top right hand corner of your resume. I don’t know why this is important in Germany but your application will be tossed aside if you don’t. I personally don’t like the idea because it opens the door to discrimination.
