The howls and growls of the wild animals rung louder in Pax’s ears and in the distance he could see shadowy objects moving between the trees. He didn’t have a genius or even a clever plan of escape. His first thought was to run but having above average intelligence told him that was a dumb idea. . .

Escaping from the corruption of Empress Naja, Everly and her husband Pax find themselves tangled in a web of adventure on planet earth.

Quantum Nothing
This is a story about a ghost reflecting on his life.

The Lucky Card
Jake received a card for his birthday, by an anonymous giver, which said that it would bring him good luck. Although he was skeptical of its magical powers he couldn’t resist testing it. He soon finds that having good luck had a bitter price.

This short story won an honorable mention in the 2005 Bards and Sages writing competition.

Julius Kingsley
Julius Kingsley was hoping that his last days of high school would be a breeze. Instead, he was confronted by a smart bully, threatened by a crooked teacher and made hostage by a vengeful student. Through all the chaos, he discovers the shocking truth about himself and others like him. * This story contains harsh language.

Street
This a short story about growing up in a really bad neighborhood. It has a pretty dramatic ending.

Ripple
Kaler’s life is unraveling before his eyes. He accidentally discovers the source of his misery and his solution is blunt, harsh, and final.

The Surrogate
An anti-social geneticist, driven by her biological clock, explores her baby making options.

Waiting Room
Sometimes the gods are nice, sometimes they are mean, but they always make you wait.

The 10 O’clock Bus
A tale about an old lady’s special journey.

All twenty-five recipes have been approved by two of the pickiest eaters. These treats are not only delicious but also easy to make. You don’t have to be Julia Child to reward your family with a mouthwatering dessert. Simple recipes are often the best.

Please read the Tips and Tools section of this book before beginning. It will give you advice that will make cooking easier. Here you will also find a measurement conversion chart and an oven temperature conversion chart. These charts are vital to the success of each recipe.

The recipes have been listed and written in alphabetical order for your convenience. Your kitchen should already be equipped with everything that you need to begin cooking. Most of the recipes can be mixed by hand but some require an electric mixer. The most common utensils that are needed are measuring cups, mixing bowl, baking pans and in some cases a skillet.
